Big haul found in highway search

Deniliquin police found 10 kilograms of white crystalised powder believed to be methylamphetamine during the search of a campervan on Sunday.

Deniliquin police found 10kilograms of white crystalised powder, believed to be methamphetamine, during a campervan search on Sunday.

Officers stopped a white campervan as it travelled west on the Sturt Hwy at Hay about 2.10am.

The 42-year-old male driver was arrested and taken to Hay Police Station, but was released pending further inquiries.

The powder and the vehicle have been seized by police for forensic analysis. If analysed as methamphetamine, the potential street value could be as much as $5million.
