Shake off the blues

August 05, 2017

Harston Hall will hold a fundraiser concert to raise money to renovate the hall with Reg Poole.

Event organisers are gearing up for next weekend’s annual Reg Poole Country Music Concert at Harston Hall to shake off the winter blues.

The concert will be hosted by the Golden Guitar winner, who will perform old-time favourites with a sing-a-long or two.

Harston Memorial Hall committee member Heather Stuart said the concert would also include guest artists Kim Ritchie, JR Williams and John Mathewson.

‘‘Kim enjoys entertaining her audience with a mixture of country, gospel and rock, at times interspersed with a touch of comedy,’’ she said.

‘‘She has produced a number of albums ... as a blind performer, music is her life.’’

Ms Stuart said JR Williams had hosted the Victorian/National Country Music Awards, broadcast across the country.

‘‘John Mathewson is a country artist who comes from nearby Kyabram,’’ she said.

‘‘His repertoire includes old and modern country music and of course some 1950s and 60s rock ’n’ roll.’’

Ms Stuart said each artist would showcase their individual style and the night promised to suit all country music fans.

‘‘Proceeds go toward improving and maintaining our old-time country hall of which the committee are most proud,’’ she said.

‘‘Come along and enjoy the night; we would love to see you there.’’

The country music concert will be at Harston Memorial Hall on Saturday, August 19, from 7.30pm. Tickets cost $20 and are available from Generations Op Shop, 119 Hogan St, Tatura, or by contacting Sally on 044758660 or Heather on 58548377.
