Goulburn-Murray Water has released a new-look Waranga Basin Recreation Guide with information about one of the state’s largest inland waterways.
Printed on waterproof paper, the guide contains details on water levels, facilities, fishing, camping and boating activities and regulations.
G-MW central area dams operations manager Scott Wikman said the guide still had a map similar to the last recreation guide, but contained greater detail and reminders of the hazards to be aware of, particularly as the water levels change.
Waranga Basin is located 12km south-west of Tatura, and was formed on the site of a natural wetland once known as Gunn’s Swamp.
It supplies irrigation, stock and domestic and environmental water to entitlement holders in the north and west of the state.
The new recreation guide is available online at www.gmwater.com.au/recreationguides or from the Rushworth Visitor Information Centre, 33 High St or Lake Waranga Caravan Park, 98 Waranga Basin Rd.
