Make a dent in your energy bills with help from experts

July 13, 2017

Geoff Lodge is a guest speaker at the Transition Tatura seminar.

Alternative energy, energy audits and smarter housing designs will be the topics discussed at Transition Tatura’s practical living seminar next week.

The second of the seminars to be held this year — Where You Live — will feature guest speakers Geoff Lodge and Henning Rasmussen.

‘‘Everyone in attendance will pick up many tips on how you can build smarter houses and easily and economically reach a seven-star energy rating or more,’’ Transition Tatura’s Ross Musolino said.

‘‘Also learn how to renovate your existing house and save hundreds of dollars on your energy bills every year.’’

Mr Musolino said Mr Lodge had more than 20years’ experience in the Victorian public service, based in the Shepparton area, and in natural resource management projects on irrigation properties.

‘‘He has been the co-ordinator for the Shepparton Irrigation Region Community Surface Drainage Program, Goulburn Broken Biodiversity team leader for the Department of Sustainability and Environment and the chief executive and executive director for Goulburn Valley Community Energy since its inception in September, 2010,’’ Mr Musolino said.

Mr Rasmussen, the principal of Energy Smart Design, has had 16 years’ experience, conducting energy ratings and other energy-efficiency assessments.

‘‘Energy Smart Design is about being available to the building industry and home owners with practical, no-nonsense and cost-effective advice and know-how,’’ Mr Musolino said.

Mr Musolino encouraged people to attend the seminar where supper will be provided.

‘‘Come along and enjoy food and fellowship, and then be informed about useful, real-world actions that you can apply to your everyday life that will reduce your impact on planet Earth as well as save you money at the same time,’’ he said.

The seminar will be held on Friday, July 21, from 7pm at Tatura Community House, 12 Casey St, Tatura. Cost is $10.

Bookings are essential and can be made at Tatura Community House by phoning 58421315.
