Police are appealing for information about the theft of $1500 in cash left in a plastic bag outside a fish and chip shop in Nagambie's main street.

Senior Constable David Duff said an elderly Merrigum woman had left the money on a  table outside the shop after selling an item to a person from Melbourne.

‘‘She’s walked away and five minutes later she’s come back back and it’s gone,’’ Sen Const Duff said.

He said police are waiting to view CCT footage from a surveillance camera installed outside the National Australia Bank to help identify any suspects.

Sen Const Duff asked anyone who may have information about the theft to contact Nagambie Police Station on 5794 2526.
