Goulburn Region has finalised its second trial date as it prepares to select teams for the netball state titles in October.

Sunday, July 30, will be the follow-up try out, with the first session on July 16.

The trials run from 4pm to 6pm at Deakin Reserve with those wanting to earn selection into the team only having to register online by July 15.

Goulburn region liaison officer Gina Sozzi said, as always, there had been a lot of interest in a spot in the side.

‘‘I’ve been fielding phone calls left, right and centre, every child wants to have a go,’’ she said.

Many have been spurred on by the prospect of working alongside esteemed Goulburn Valley coaches and Sozzi said all netballers need to appear at a minimum of one session.

Shepparton United’s Di Hanslow has taken the reins of the under-15s side, while Matt Healey will again be head coach of the under-17s team.

Shepparton’s Tracey Brereton and Tallygaroopna’s Julie Telford are continuing their search to create an open side, with the players to be head hunted rather than selected by trials.

The open, under-17 and under-15 teams will head to the state titles in Werribee on the weekend of October 7 and 8.
