A number of roadwork projects are currently underway around Shepparton.
News photographers ventured out to three sites; Welsford St redevelopment, Old Dookie Rd upgrade and the Verney Rd upgrade.
To see where construction was at and we asked the Greater Shepparton City Council to update us on how the works were progressing.
The Welsford Street redevelopment is programmed to be completed by the end of August, 2017 and upon completion will provide a much safer road to travel on and enjoy, council says.
Currently Nixon St, Shepparton between Wyndham and Welsford Sts is closed to through traffic and will remain that way until August 11, as part of the works.
The Old Dookie Road upgrade is anticipated to be complete in September, 2017 and the improvements to travel time and accessibility will improve productivity in the freight and logistics industry, council says.
“Attract(ing) new investment into industrial areas of Shepparton, improve levels of road safety and reduce the numbers of vehicles in central Shepparton,” the council said in a statement.
The high volume of use has already resulted in damage to the road and with increase use anticipated, works need to be undertaken to ensure the road can sustain increased use now and into the future.
Verney Road from Balaclava Road to Graham Street has been closed to south bound traffic for pavement works since Tuesday March 14, with reconstruction works programmed to be complete at the end of this month.
Stage 3 works are currently in progress and as a result Verney Rd from Balaclava Rd to Graham Street has been closed to south bound traffic.
