Roadworks caused lengthy traffic delays for motorists yesterday on what was the final day of planned repairs to the two bridges connecting Shepparton and Kialla on the Goulburn Valley Hwy.
The south-bound dual-lane bridge was closed with traffic redirected to use one of the two lanes on the north-bound bridge to cross the Broken River into Kialla.
Traffic crawled across the bridge with people waiting as far back as Riverview Dve to cross into Shepparton.
Works began on the VicRoads highway on Monday and finished yesterday.
Speed limits were reduced to 40km/h during the road works, which included strengthening, piles maintenance and some concrete works.
VicRoads said the works were part of its regular maintenance schedule.
