Queensland newcomers Jake Torney and Bailey Tome were joined by Morrison Medallist Mick Mattingly in the session.
Torney and Tome arrived late last week and have made their base in Echuca, where they have acquired work as landscape gardeners.
Both are from the Mt Gravatt Football Club, which competes in the Queensland Australian Football League, and are eagerly looking forward to making an impression in their new club and league which will hopefully lead to interest from AFL clubs.
Torney is the son of former Kyabram junior star sportsman and Murray Bushranger Andrew Torney and has a reputation of being a skilful, hard running rebounding defender.
Tome is renowned for being a hard-nut and classy midfielder with a deadly left foot.
On-baller Mattingly, who won the 2019 Morrison Medal in a Kyabram premiership year, has spent the past four seasons with the West Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian Football League.
Torney, Tome and Mattingly along with another recruit Eamonn Ogden are expected to add running power to the Kyabram side with new co-coach Corey Carver declaring he wants a very mobile side to be a major weapon for the Bombers next season.
Carver has been particularly happy with numbers at training for the past three weeks, with particularly good representation from the club’s younger brigade.
There were big numbers, including thirds players and netballers, on the track on Monday night to see off the old year.
‘‘We’ve been getting around 30 players to the sessions twice a week. It’s been very pleasing,’’ Carver said.
