The Rotary Club of Mooroopna has ventured all the way to Germany to attend the wedding of one of its past exchange students.
Bjorn Braun came to Australia in 2000 and continued to stay in touch with his host families after he returned to his home in Cologne, Germany.
He even visited Australia with his now wife Maike van Haag and caught up with members of the Mooroopna club.
Rotary Club of Mooroopna member Cathy Martin said it was a wonderful wedding.
Other Rotary members who attended included Greg Martin, Carol and Graeme Wood, Chris and Bev Baldwin, Denise and Fred Mandersloot and Faye and Rob Johnson.
‘‘The group really enjoyed attending Bjorn and Maike’s wedding and will enjoy a lifelong association and friendship with them,’’ Mrs Martin said.
She said the Rotary Youth Exchange Program was a wonderful opportunity for young students to experience a year in another country.
‘‘Australian Rotary clubs accept students from overseas and also sponsor local students to travel to another country,’’ she said.
