It took 19 professional fights but Shepparton boxing star Dwight Ritchie has finally been stopped in his tracks.
Ritchie, 24, was beaten for the first time after putting his OPBF middleweight title belt on the line in Japan last week.
Hometown hero Koki Tyson defeated Ritchie by unanimous decision in Osaka last Wednesday night.
Ritchie announced his presence on the world stage five months ago when he ousted Hikaru Nishida for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation middleweight crown.
However, The Fighting Cowboy failed to defend his title as he struggled to overcome the hostile environment in Tyson’s hometown Osaka.
The loss brings Ritchie’s impressive unbeaten record to an end and will likely result in the power-puncher being dropped outside of the world top 15 rankings.
Ritchie now returns to the Goulburn Valley and will take a few weeks off before getting back in the gym and rebuilding his charge to the top.
