Moira Shire Council has developed a free app aimed at helping people manage their garden and household waste.
The app, called Waste Management in Moira, can send notifications to users on changes to bin collection times, provide information on opening hours of the shire’s transfer stations, how to report littering, and which bin to put out each week.
Moira Shire Mayor Gary Cleveland said the app was a welcome addition to council’s waste management services.
Cr Cleveland said residents could win a garden makeover worth up to $1000 and a new smartphone by entering a competition announced at the launch.
Residents can enter by taking a photo of their garden and submitting it through the app.
Residents without smartphones or tablets can still enter using iPads borrowed from customer service centres in Cobram, Nathalia, Numurkah and Yarrawonga.
Gardens must be located within Moira Shire.
Visit www.moira.vic.gov. au for terms and conditions and full details on how to enter. Entries close at noon on December 16.
