News photographer Julie Mercer was courtside on Saturday as Shepparton North made the trek to Kialla Park for A4 action in the Shepparton District Tennis Association.

Both teams occupied lofty positions on the ladder going into the clash, with the Parkers holding supremacy on top of the pops.

But it was the visitors who emerged with the major spoils, courtesy of a 5-40 to 4-38 victory, a result which moves third-placed Shepparton North to within one win of high-flying Kialla Park.

Andrew Dowell, Reece Dowell and Eric Mech laid a decisive winning platform for North, completing a clean sweep of the three men’s doubles sets played.

Despite the best efforts of Emma Kennedy, who featured in two women’s doubles victories, Park could not overhaul the road warriors from North.

Carly Martin and Jess Dowell put North into a strong position with a 6-2 defeat of Frances Kennedy and Carol Mifka in the women’s doubles, before Kate Taylor and Reece Dowell sealed the match.
