The Tatura Fun Run attracted more than 80 people on Sunday morning with about $1100 raised for the Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care.

‘‘It was a beautiful morning and great atmosphere with runners bringing along kids, prams and dogs,’’ Tatura Hospital director of nursing Jayne French said.

Co-ordinated by staff members Louisa Niglia and Leanna Hookes-Wilson, the event, in its sixth year, contained 5.5km and 10km events.

‘‘The event promotes good health, community participation and is our annual major fundraiser,’’ Mrs French said.

‘‘The funds raised will go towards a specialised bed for the hospital and it’s thanks to our staff, the ladies’ auxiliary and reference group members who make this event a reality.’’

Although the event wasn’t a competition, the first runner completed the 5.5km loop in less than 25 minutes.

‘‘I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered their time, especially Stacey from Stacey’s Massage in Tatura who gave participant massages post-event,’’ Mrs French said.
