The earth will shake at the Numurkah Showgrounds on Sunday as the annual Numurkah Show Us Ya Wheels gets under way.

Now in its 16th year, this year the family-friendly car show’s main attraction is a guest appearance by professional drag racer Darren Morgan and his top fuel drag car.

Event organiser Damien Hipwell said the car could get up to 500km/h, racing 402m in four to five seconds.

‘‘We’ll do two start ups for that. It will make a lot of noise, it’s pretty earth shattering, honestly,’’ Mr Hipwell said.

‘‘We’re having a raffle so you can win (one of two) chances to sit in the car, we’ll provide the safety gear for you to sit in the car while we do a start up.’’

The Show Us Ya Wheels swap meet is back this year, with the Numurkah Showgrounds accommodating up to 300 sites.

‘‘If anyone wants to come along and sell stuff, they can turn up on the day,’’ Mr Hipwell said.

‘‘On top of that we’ll have over 600 cars, we get a huge variety of cars from street cars to utes, to hot rods to customs — if it’s got wheels, it’ll be there.’’

There will also be a display of low-rider pushbikes, the GOTafe dyno, careful cobber car rides and the show and shine.

Children will be kept entertained with a bunch of free activities on offer including face painting, miniature train rides and jumping castles.

The Numurkah Show Us Ya Wheels will be held this Sunday, December 4, from 7am to 3pm.

Show vehicle entry is $10 a car while general public admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
