Little comes up large

Cleaning up: Shepparton Little Athletics Club had a successful relay meet at Albury last weekend.

Shepparton Little Athletics Centre’s strike rate is remarkable.

The club sent 22 teams to Albury last Sunday for the Northern Country Region Little Athletics Championships and came away with 15 medals.

There were medals of every colour, but it was mostly gold, with Shepparton bringing back nine from across the border, along with five silver and one bronze.

The under-14 boys had a day to remember as they won the 4 x 100m, 4 x 200 m and the medley, while the under-15 girls blitzed the field in the 4 x 100m and 4 x 200m events.

A combined under-14 and 15 girls team took out the medley race, as did the under-12 and 13 girls.

The boys and girls worked well together in the under-13 category by winning the 4 x 100m and 4 x 200m races.

Successful teams will take part in the State Championships to be conducted at Albert Park, Melbourne on December 17.

Silver medals went to under-13 girls (4 x 100m), under-11 mixed 4 x 200m. under 9-11 boys (medley), under-19 girls (medley) and under-9 mixed (4 x 200m)

A under 9-11 girls team won a bronze medal in the medley.

Those successful teams will take part in the Little Athletics Victoria State Championships at Melbourne’s Albert Park on December 17.
