A variety of antique toys and Christmas decorations is sure to bring out the festive spirit in Numurkah this weekend.
The Numurkah and District Historical Society will be holding its major fundraising event, A Nostalgic Christmas at Glenlossit.
Numurkah and District Historical Society member Glenice Holmes has an amazing collection of antique toys and Christmas decorations and, along with her husband Doug Holmes, was happy to hold the event at their house.
Mrs Holmes said she started decorating her home about six weeks ago with a range of Christmas ornaments.
‘‘I’ve always decorated for Christmas because of memories of my childhood and Christmas as we had it then,’’ she said.
Mrs Holmes said she was a very nostalgic person and had collected many antiques and handmade toys for about 40 years.
‘‘I’m on the look out at all times for something I can find that’s old,’’ she said.
Even her garden has a range of antiques and outdoor decorations that people are welcome to admire when they visit the home on the weekend.
A Nostalgic Christmas at Glenlossit is on today and tomorrow from 11am to 4pm at 226 Melville Rd, South Numurkah. Entry is $5 for adults and a gold coin donation for children. Morning and afternoon tea is $5.
