Expect traffic snags

A new roundabout at the intersection of Brauman St and Packham St will begin construction on Monday, December 12.

Greater Shepparton City Council has advised the estimated completion date of the project to be late January next year.

Brauman St will remain open to traffic during the construction, however delays can be expected to occur at times.

Packham St north of Brauman St will be closed to all traffic during this period.

Mawson Constructions will complete the works, including the relocation of pedestrian lighting, road pavement construction, hotmix asphalt, concrete works and line marking, all improving traffic movement.

Consideration for students at nearby Wanganui Park Secondary College was given when choosing a timeframe to complete the project.

‘‘The program dates have been identified as having the least disruption to the school bus interchange at Wanganui Park Secondary College,’’ Greater Shepparton City Council infrastructure director Steve Bowmaker said.

‘‘The completed works will provide benefits to the community as they ensure safer facilities for pedestrians, cyclists, buses and cars,’’ he said.

The roundabout’s construction is part of the overall Greater Shepparton Regional Sports Precinct redevelopment at John McEwan Reserve.

The redevelopment is a $19million project funded by the Federal Government, state government, Greater Shepparton City Council and sporting clubs.
