Tatura due to make it two

Caiden Pratt ensured Tatura put runs on the board.

It has been a long time since Tatura won consecutive matches.

But it will fancy its chances of making it a double when it travels to Katandra on Saturday for the opening round of two-day Haisman Shield matches.

Tatura is coming off a memorable victory against last year’s grand finalist Northerners and the young team will be full of confidence.

Terrific knocks from Caiden Pratt and captain-coach Tim Kelly ensured Tatura put runs on the board and set the Jets a total of 228 to chase.

After coming so close in its previous four matches, Tatura sealed the deal and wrapped up a 44-run win.

The past three seasons for the boys in red, white and blue have yielded a total of three wins (one for every campaign), but there is a buzz building at Howley Oval.

Michael Archer, Tom Miller, Pratt and Kelly have all shown they can make runs in the top-order, while Jess Petherick and Jayden Armstrong have been leading the attack.

But it won’t be easy at Katandra, with the Eagles coming off a confidence-boosting win of their own.

Spurred on by the return of star player Jedd Wright from hip surgery, Katandra closed out a dramatic five-run win as Old Students lost 4-1 in the final overs.

Wright fired with the bat, while bowlers Aaron Beecroft and Elliot Richardson did their job to defend the mediocre total of 156.
