Superb: Shepparton golfer Kim Morris secured the GV Champion of Champions ladies title by a commanding 13-shot margin on Sunday.

On song: Shepparton golfer Jeremy Rath secured the GV Champion of Champions men's title courtesy of a playoff success against Kialla's Taylor Bicknell.

Shepparton provided a clean sweep of success as the Goulburn Valley District Golf Association staged its annual Champion of Champions tournament on Sunday.

Warm conditions greeted more than 50 players at Shepparton Golf Club, the largest field seen in the tournament for a number of years.

Local knowledge, along with some high-class play proved pivotal as Kim Morris and Jeremy Rath celebrated success.

Morris produced an outstanding performance to seal the women’s event, firing the day’s best round, a two-over par 74.

The Shepparton ace finished 13 shots clear of nearest rival, Mooroopna star Sandy Millett.

Rath prevailed on the first playoff hole against Kialla champion Taylor Bicknell after the two could not be split at the end of 18 holes, having carded rounds of 75.

A timely birdie on the first playoff hole was enough for Rath to emerge triumphant with the men’s prize.

Having landed the individual double, it came as no surprise Shepparton also secured team success.

The team of Rath, Daniel Adem, Morris and Julie Harris took home that category with a total score of 298.

Nagambie’s Shane McCormick was the winner of the men’s handicap guest section with a nett 70 and Terri Mentha (Cobram) secured the women’s handicap section courtesy of a nett 74.

Golfers from 14 clubs — Kyabram Parkland, Rich River, Merrigum, Valley View, Numurkah, Cosgrove, Nathalia, Nagambie, Shepparton, Tocumwal, Strathmerton, Kialla, Mooroopna and Cobram lined-up in the event.
